Welcome to BFMS!

You are going to have a great time here at BF! Our Middle School is divided into two main houses - Franklin and Ridge. Each house has four team teachers, a grade administrator, and a guidance counselor. Your house administrator is Mr. Wu, and your Guidance Counselor is Mrs. Sheer. You will find lots of people to help you start your year off right!

Schedules

One of the changes from elementary school to middle school is switching classes. Every quarter you are assigned new electives, but your team classes, (Math, Science, English, and Social Studies), stay the same. Vocal, band, or strings will also be one of your year-round classes. It will seem confusing at first, but you will figure it out fast!

Summer Reading

Reading is highly recommended this summer! Looking for a book? Check out the recommended reading list: http://tinyurl.com/RPSmiddleSRL

Spirit Week

Spirit Week

Spirit Week is one week of the school year where each day you dress up according to theme. The grade with the highest percentage of participation wins spirit week points. There are also certain days and events throughout the year where you can win spirit points so you have an advantage going into spirit week. At the end of the year, the grade with the most spirit points wins a reward. Spirit Week is very competitive and everyone has a great time! It is something that you will always remember from your time at BF!

Languages

In 6th grade, some of you may take one quarter of French, Latin, and Spanish.

Advisory Flag Banner

Each student is assigned an advisory group and teacher. You will keep this advisory for the rest of your time at BFMS. Advisory is a place where you do projects around the school to help the school and community. Advisory also creates a safe environment with a close group of friends that you don't always see every day.

The annual BF Paterson gift toy drive encourages students to donate a gift for a child in Paterson around the holidays.
